Goondiwindi Race Club Stages another Vern Kleinschmidt Goondiwindi Cup
Tue 5 September 2023
Racing returns to Gunsynd Park this Saturday when the Goondiwindi Race Club will stage the Vern Kleinschmidt Community Trust Goondiwindi Cup.
The Vern Kleinschmidt Community Trust Goondiwindi Cup forms part of the now famous Rotary Club of Goondiwindi Gourmet in Gundy Weekend. The weekend attracts many visitors to the town with all of the events programmed to happen. Full details of what is happening can be found at https://goondiwindiregion.com.au/events
Recent years have not been kind to the Goondiwindi Race Club with Covid 19 playing havoc for two years and a washout last year. Last year’s Cup was rescheduled to be run at the memorable Gunsynd 50-year anniversary weekend in April so there will be two in the one year in 2023. Special guest John Tapp was amazed at what Goondiwindi had to offer on his visit to Goondiwindi and the celebrations next Saturday will be just as big with a number of sponsors gathering and quite a few Birthday parties booked in.
Gunsynd Park and the races is quickly becoming the place to stage your special events whether it be a birthday, wedding anniversary, family or group reunions.
The feature event on the card will be the Vern Kleinschmidt Community Trust Goondiwindi Cup over 1400 metres and a good field is expected to line up in the feature.
First race will get underway at 1.30pm and the last at 4.30pm. The last race will be the 1800 metre Battlers Cup which gives patrons a chance to actually witness the start of a race right before their eyes. Something not seen at many country tracks.
Pre-paid bookings are preferred at www.trybooking.com/CJHRW or you can pay at the gate.
The usual catering and bar facilities will be available along with light entertainment and jumping castle for the kids.
Catering is also available for patrons and a great day’s racing is assured for those that attend Gunsynd Park.
Musical entertainment will continue until 6pm with Split Image. See you all at Gunsynd Park Saturday for Racing at its Best in the West.
